Passed Away: October 2019
“Umberto Josi was an avid collector of model trains as well as a builder of brass model steam locomotives. His train collection spans a period of approximately 60 years. Model train collectors are a special breed, they are unlike any other toy collector, that is, their interest in the hobby stems not from the value of the models, but from the pure passion they have for trains! Umberto had many friends, however, the ones he enjoyed hanging out with the most were his “train friends”, true train collectors with the same passion and interest in trains. One could call them a special “clan” considering the way they would discuss and almost “worship” these little models that brought them endless joy. Umberto did not just collect trains, he spent many hours working on the precise detail to create and build them from scratch, something he was very proud of. However, as a collector, one should never lose sight of the fact that a collector is only a custodian of their collection in this life, and now that Umberto has passed away his trains should be sold to let his legacy live on. We know that the new owners of these trains will have the same passion and drive to keep this wonderful hobby alive”
